Based on information obtained from the family of the ring it is estimated to have been made sometime in late 1950's. The mounting is solid 18k yellow and white gold and all handmade. The opal is 11.5 carats and measures 18x13x6.5mm. The color dances through this incredible stone like a fine waltz. The pictures are taken with a flash and with ordinary florescent lighting. You can see how this opal just comes to life. There are some light scratches on the stone consistent with age and wear of ring. They in no way effect the color or beauty of this opal. Surrounding the opal are 2 carats of stunning VS2 -SI1 clarity and G-H in color. The diamonds are approximately .10 carat each = 2.00 carat total weight. The diamond weight is calculated based on set stones. We have copy of an old appraisal placing the replacement value at $13,000.00. The appraisal was done by a graduate gemologist. We are in the process of doing a new appraisal which will easily place the value over $14,000.00. This is a lovely estate piece and is in great shape. We have polished it to a nice shine and it will make a great addition to any jewelry wardrobe! Sizing is available for an additional costs.
